Length, curl and diameter of lash extensions

Length, curl and diameter of lash extensions

Types of lash extensions

There are different types of lash extensions: partial, full, volume.

Partial extensions are used when you need to emphasise a natural look or make an accent: an artificial lash is attached not to every one of your own, but to every other one or more, emphasising the outer corners of the eye.

Full extensions — one extended lash for each of your own. This is the classic extension; an option with a denser outer corner for expressiveness is possible.

Volume extensions (2D, 3D) — two or three artificial lashes are attached to one of your own. Used for super-volume: there are 2–3 times more lashes, and the gaze is bright and open.

Mega-volume extensions (4D–7D) — more than 4 artificial lashes per one of your own. Suitable for a bright stage look.

Curl

The curl plays an important role: with it you can effectively correct the eye shape. The main curls are shown in detail below.

Types of lash curls

Curl B — close to natural, almost indistinguishable from your own lash. It simply makes an accent without changing the shape.

Curl C — one of the most popular. Suits those who like to curl their lashes with mascara.

Curl CC — more curved: makes the gaze more expressive, as if opening up the eye.

Curl D — even more pronounced, for those who want to emphasise femininity. It does not suit everyone: it is better not to use it on mature eyes.

Curl L — the hair is curved closer to the edge. It effectively corrects an Asian eye shape and suits a heavily hooded eyelid.

Diameter (thickness)

The hairs are made of synthetic microfibre. They come in thick, thin and ultra-thin.

Thick (0.18; 0.20; 0.25) — the effect of heavily made-up lashes, a bit stiff to wear. Thin (0.10; 0.12; 0.15) — a more natural look, the basis for volume extensions. Ultra-thin (0.05; 0.07) — for lovers of all things natural, weightless.

The terms "mink", "silk", "kolinsky" and "sable" were introduced for clients' convenience: "mink" and "silk" refer to ultra-thin lashes, "kolinsky" to thin ones, "sable" to thick ones.

Length (gradation)

Lashes range from 6 to 14 mm in length. The master usually uses 4–5 lengths, placing lashes from the inner corner to the outer, starting with the shorter length.

I hope this information was useful and brought you closer to the world of lash masters. After all, when the master and the client speak the same language, it is always pleasant.
